Child & Adolescent Yoga

Bretton has offered kids and family yoga session at Yoga Heights for several years. Our students love her warmth and joy in every class she leads. Bretton's creative and engaging activities keep the little ones engaged throughout each class. She is able to teach basic yogic concepts and movements that create a love of yoga practice for all ages.

— Jess, Owner of Yoga Heights

A perfect balance of fun, movement activities and relaxation and calmness! My students love learning and trying new poses, moving along to their favorite songs and playing their favorite yoga games (yoga freeze tag, "Mama Tree, Baby Tree”)

— Meghan B.

It's really fun. It calms me down and I like doing it with my friends.

— Zoey, Age 6

One of the things I love about Bretton's kids yoga classes is how she helps the kids learn about mindfulness in approachable, age-appropriate ways. She helps my students learn things like body awareness, and about recognizing feelings and how they affect us. It's an ideal way to practice yoga and it boosters our conversations in the classroom. We love Ms. Bretton and we are thankful for her!

— Hanna B.

Bretton is very warm with her yoga students and adjusts her session to the age group participating. In additional to yoga poses, Bretton reads stories to them, prompts students with relevant questions and lets them bring personal items to share.

— After School Club Program

I like yoga because I like to stretch and learn yoga moves. I also like saying hi to Mimi the bunny and coloring.

— Blaire, Age 6.5

Yoga with Bretton was such a whole body and mind experience for our kids, and they absolutely loved it! She taught them to be grateful for their bodies and what they're capable of doing, and she taught mindfulness in a kid-friendly way that really clicked. Bretton was so patient with our energetic class, and she worked her magic to calm and center our girls in the midst of a pandemic and distance learning. Yoga was the favorite part of my daughter's week. She's got my daughter hooked on yoga, and I couldn't be happier about it!

We hired Bretton to teach a yoga class to a 3rd grade Girl Scout troop of 12 girls.  I was impressed with Bretton right off the bat.  She asked me thoughtful questions about what I was looking for, and tailored her lesson plan to meet our needs and wants…She had prepared a creative lesson that was interesting for the girls, and she had great control of the room – 3rd grade girls do not always listen, and Bretton quickly yet firmly got them back on track when needed.  I highly recommend her!

Adult Yoga & Barre

Bretton is an amazing and inspiring yoga instructor.  Her understanding of anatomy and alignment is only matched with her creativity and her calming demeanor. I have taken Bretton’s group yoga classes and recently began private sessions with her as well.  At a time in my practice where I was feeling like I plateaued, Bretton has reawakened my practice and is pushing it to the next level.  I look forward to every session I have with Bretton!

— Janet L.

Bretton’s instruction is next level. Her caring, personal attention, and cueing set her apart. She has encouraged me to be brave enough to try new things. Hence, improving my practice in ways I never imagined possible.

— KRISTEN M.

Bretton’s group classes are both fun and challenging. What sets her apart from other group instructors is her taking the time to pause the class and breakdown an advanced pose, which allows more people to advance in their practice and play as a group. She is generous offering individual micro-adjustments. My practice has improved so much under Bretton’s wise guidance!”

— KATE H.

Bretton always brings a bright outlook, positive encouragement, and personal attention to all participants in her classes. I have had the opportunity to take both barre and bootcamp classes with her and she has truly helped improve my fitness and my form. She brings a wonderful sense of joy to movement, and is a pleasure to have as a teacher.

Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga

Bretton’s prenatal classes contributed in such a positive way to my mental and physical health during pregnancy. As an avid runner before pregnancy, I really struggled with not being able to exercise at the same level during the second and third trimester. Bretton’s prenatal classes allowed me to continue exercising in a way that worked for my pregnant body, helped prepare my body for the birthing process (love the two minute squats!), and allowed me to feel connected to my baby. I also loved that Bretton begins each class with a group check-in, helping to build a sense of community but also opening up an opportunity to slow down and check in with myself in the process. I would highly recommend her prenatal classes to my pregnant friends.

— Steph O.

Bretton’s prenatal yoga class was exactly what I needed during my pandemic pregnancy. She opened every class with check-ins, which provided some much needed community with others who were pregnant during this strange time. The yoga was at just the right level and I found it easy to adapt to what I needed most as my pregnancy progressed. Bretton even worked with me on some stretches I was finding especially difficult. Her class also had a really warm, come-as-you-are vibe. My labor ended up being mercifully short and so far my body seems to be rebounding well. It’s impossible to say how much of that to attribute to Bretton’s class, but I know it helped!

— Rachael J.

I began taking prenatal yoga at about 20 weeks. Before my pregnancy, I used fitness to manage generalized anxiety and to just feel good all around, and it was right around 20 weeks that I hit the point where I could no longer comfortably go on a run. I started Bretton's prenatal classes and they saved me! Bretton's hands-on style and community-oriented classes helped not only to keep me moving but also gave me the connection with other's that I so needed as a soon-to-be first time mom. The community circles she opened classes with allowed me to hear from others and share my experience, and Bretton's nurturing teaching style made me feel right at home and welcome in every class, learning new poses that kept me strong throughout different stages of pregnancy and beyond. I even took her guidance with me to other yoga classes and was able to modify, with her help, to continue my practice almost daily until birth. I credit her classes with the maintenance of my mental and physical health throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum (all during the pandemic!). Thank you, Bretton!

I loved Bretton's class while I was pregnant. It was such a great community of other mamas-to-be, the movement was exactly what I needed, and Bretton was always there to answer questions and help us work through ailments and needed adjustments as our bodies changed with pregnancy. I had fairly severe pelvic pain toward the end of my pregnancy, and Bretton not only helped me figure out how to adjust my yoga so I could still practice, but helped me with some exercises that actually made most of the pain go away.
